Will keeping a new Ford Thunderbird under a carport for 3 months in a Fort Worth Texas..

...winter cause any damage? We have kept a new Ford Thunderbird under a carport facing north for 3 months in the winter. no snow just rain and cold no storms either.. We have been told that it has caused $1700 worth of damage? How stupid is this?
There is no signs of any damage that can be seen .
