Ok. So, I don't think it't right to ask for it in this situation, but I am wondering how likely it will be that the judge will award it.
Husband left wife.
Married about 20 years
Both work and have reasonably the same income
Two minor children involved
Child support of course is a given, but the wife is also asking for Alimony.
Would the judge award it and if so... why...
I am glad to hear that you all don't think so! He did do wrong in leaving, but my gosh paying child support on 2 kids is going to drain him. I don't know he could even buy food if he had to pay alimony too!

No, there will be no alimony because alimony is awarded for a very short time to give the needy spouse time to secure a job that they can support themselves with, usually it's a stay at home Mom who hasn't worked in many years, or one who is disabled and cannot survive on disability alone (long term marriage)...it is not a windfall of money so....

If their respective incomes are about the same, it means both are working and able to support themselves.

The wife should not and will not get alimony.

Any lawyers out there?

My guess would be that if she has a very good attorney, and he doesn't, she might get it. But it probably depends on the laws in the state in which they live.
