Will it matter what 600cc sport bike I will purchase as far as what brand?

I've been riding motorcycles for 4 years and the last bike I've owned was a 1999 r1.I sold it because I needed something newers and less powerful I want to buy a 600cc from 2007 or younger but I've only ridden that r1. And I believe 1000cc aren't needed so will it matter what bike I buy from the Japanese big four. I've seen all the reviews but I'm concerned about dependibility because I will only commute and I like sport bikes because they are fun to drive
 
I would Reccomend the Kawasaki ZZR600... Its the best overall bike i have ever ridden. Its a Sport Touring bike with ZX-6RR engine, so it holds its own when it comes to racing. It is also the most comfortable bike ive ever ridden. Ive handled a few nice bikes ( GSXR 600, R6, and my dads Yamaha V-star) and it is by far the best bike ive ever ridden.
