will it hurt my 98 1500 dodge ram if i cut my exhuast at the muffler?

the muffler is stock and about 3-4 feet long. i feel like theres no power because of it. will hurt my valves or my motor if i do that? im not talking about cuting it off at my cat converter or cutting off my o2 sincer just cuting it right at the muffler. i know it will be louder thats another reason i want to do it. cant afford new pipes lol
