will I lose child tax credit for my son if he does a football apprenticeship?

My son has just completed year 1 of a plumbing course at college. He has got into level 2 but wants to defer for a year so he can do a football apprenticeship. Will I lose his child tax credit.
 
Where are you? In the US, the child tax credit ends when they turn 17, so you'd have already lost it.

If you're in the US and are really talking about EIC, then if he's over 18 and doesn't qualify as a full time student for the year, you couldn't get EIC for him.
