Will I have to worry about my Honda being stolen?

I am leasing a new car and Honda was one car that I was going to avoid getting because of my parking issue. I live on a side street off of a major highway in New Jersey and I have to park out in the street every night. I know Honda's are the most stolen car. I decided to go with the new 2010 Honda Accord Coupe because there really weren't many options left for me to choose and everything else is too expensive. Honda will give me a good deal.

I'm just wondering if the newer hondas have more security than the older ones. I know the new ones do not have the push button start, but they do have an immobilizer. The salesman told me that the only way it can be stolen is if that person has the same key with the computer chips that my key has, OR get taken away on a flatbed. Is this true? Or id there still other ways of stealing?

Thank you for your help. This really worries me. My area is okay, but I border a town that is not too good. Also, if I don't leave anything out for thiefs to see, then they should have no reason to break into my car right?

Professionals steal cars on flat beds. It is the preffered retreival way on the show repo and other seens of repos. Having valuables insite usally only attract junkies to break in to beable to get a fix. Most cars get stolen for a joy ride and left somewhere when their done.

Hopefully your car has motion detector if you get to close or try to break in. Our base 2009 Toyota Matrix does.

The number one fear of most criminals is getting unneeded attention where someone will see them. That they will leave if they set off an alarm to avoid detection.

The number one deterent to home burglers, a growling dog.

Try to park your car as close to a street light. That will make your car less attractive to steal, because the theifs do not want to get caught. And the visibility makes it easy for witnesses to sse the thiefs.

Newer hondas are harder to steal than older ones because of the immobilizer but not impossible. Get a tracking system like lojack if you are concerned about it.
