Will I have to stick to this position despite my true desire?

Hello.
I'm a Junior in high school and am part of the Student Council (Leadership) class at my school. This school year, I am Junior Class President. Although the year just started, I feel like I've taken the class into a new direction by motivating them to work harder at fundraising and just as a class in general. Whenever other students in the class and I talk about positions, most of them tell me that I'm doing a good job as president, and every single one of them also tells me that I should be the Senior Class President.
That doesn't sound like a bad thing, right? But my true desire since the moment i stepped foot in that class was to be the Student Body President. One of my classmates has been working her way up (from Freshman VP, to Sophomore Pres, to Student Body VP), whereas I recently entered last year and made a semi-drastic change (from Sophomore Secretary to Junior Pres), but pretty much everyone has the idea that she will be next year's Student Body President. I am a competitive person by nature, and when I want something, I usually go after it. I fought for my position as Junior Class President, but I feel like it backfired because now people expect me to be Senior President.
Should I let these peoples' opinions get to me, or should I go with what feels right to me. Maybe I will know once election time comes around, but the most disheartening thing is that I feel the Juniors are the closest of all classes, so will that factor into my decision also?
