I'm 21 and made over $30K in 2010. I'm a full-time student, part-time worker. I would like to not have my parent claim me as a dependent to get my maximum refund, but can not make any tax claims/deductions if my parents claims me as a dependent. I provide half the rent, pay for all of my own expenses (college tution, gas, clothes, food, etc) w/o my parent's help, but still live with her.
Will I receive less financial aid if my single, unemployed parent does not claim me? Plus I made more than $30K...will that affect me too?
