I applied to nursing school for the upcoming spring and was placed on the alternate list. The alternate list doesn't mean much since every admitted usually stay.
- all prerequisites already completed PR GPA-3.55 (2 C's, 1 C+) CUM GPA- 2.96 (1 F, really regret taking this class didn't even need it, should have studied harder)
-NLN Verbal 83, Math 90, Science 93, Composite 135, All 94%
I should have tried harder in my classes, been goal-orientated sooner, and forward but now it's too late. I am applying again for the Fall, hopefully having at least a 3.0 other than that nothing else has changed in my application. They also do not look at anything besides PR GPA, CUM GPA and NLN scores or factor in the number of times you've applied.
My plans (will only be applicable in time for Spring'12 if I still don't get in the Fall:
1. boost PR GPA retake the two classes with C's
2. Take other graduation requirements and fill extras with PSYCH classes (possibly switch major if I still don't get in; so stressful just sitting around waiting and still closer to being a nurse)
3. Maybe retake NLN (6 month period to retake ends in January which is too late have new scores for the for FALL application)
I am in my 3rd year of college and still not in the nursing program which is 3 years long. Honestly, I don't know what else I can do, I have regrets already not focusing more/studying, graduating way past 2012 (HS '08), not knowing what to do out of high school. Now I know I want to be in the health care field but getting into nursing is nerve-racking.
This was more of a vent
Are any of you in the same situation? Is my dream of becoming a nurse fruitless?
Over the summer I plan on becoming a CNA and volunteering at the local clinic and nursing home. Should I just give up and switch to another major?
After a time period, I might switch to Psychology if I am still not in nursing, boost my GPA (possibly? to a 3.5) and go for a masters in a healthcare field.
Thanks for reading!
