Will I cross-train as Infantry or MP in the Army?

I enlisted as a 13D Field Artillery in the Army. But I hear that since there's nothing left to bomb for the Artillery squads in Iraq or Afghanistan, they just cross-train them as Infantry or MP and then they go fulfill Infantry and MP duties since they have nothing else really to do. Is this true and will I cross-train?

all combat arms MOSs get the normal dismounted combat training at their unit. you wont go to the infantry school or anything, but you'll eithre do an infantrymans job during deployment or youll get stuck with base security...meaning youll sit at a tower or at a gate all day.
