Will Hollywood ruin metal gear solid the movie?

with a rumored 2009 release the hugely popular video game metal gear solid is being made into live action fil but with a history of games into movies going horribly wrong will metal gear change this prospective?
And with hideo kojima behind it as producer surely this movie will be a hit i just hope they get similar looking actors and i hope christian bale is playing snake he would be perfect as he is hugely popular and looks v.similar to snake
 
I hope they dont thank god they havnt give it to uwe boll he has a history of game to movie conversions and been honest he always makes a hash of it ...
 
Why do this...the game is already a movie anyway, it'll practically be like removing the gameplay and using live action...unless they have a completely different storyline?
 
Hideo already graciously declined Uwe.

Im an a massive Metal Gear fan and the film can suceed depending on a few things.

1. It isnt a new story that is supposedly canon
2. Hideo checks over the script and doesnt allow it to be used unless he's happy

And we know number 2 is happening because of how they Declined David Hayter's script for it.
 
Give it a rest Hollywood. Movies from games are crap as they ALWAYS try to be different from the source material. Similar in title only. THIS IS WHY IT FAILS and is panned by a lot of fans. Now if they make a movie from a game and the non-gamers like it and the gamers dont what does that tell you? they ****ed up that's what.

And give it a rest those that sit there and nag about well you can't have a straight port of game to movie, it wouldn't be good. No one is saying it should be a straight port BUT RATHER A SEQUEL DONE IN MOVIE FORM [all characters intact, etc]. Not hard to do. After all if the non gamers dont turn up to it, they expect the fans of the name they are using to turn up. And who would turn up to see crap [hello Paul Anderson]. If they expect fans to turn up then respect the source material and fanbase.

Same goes for the supposed Gears of War movie that is in the planning stages.
 
Has Hollywood ever made a decent movie version of a video game?

Streetfighter and Super Mario are among the worst movies ever made.
That one with The Rock a couple of years ago was awful.
Double Dragon was not up to much.
 
It will be avarge by hollywood standarRAB, just like all video game plots are.Most video games think there movies these days anyhow, so why bother with this?



It is a shame nic noilte wern't a few years younger though, he would of made the perfect snake :)
