saddam hussein's dictatorship? ...and having had a part in spreading the seeds of democracy in Iraq. Iraq is a much better place now that freedom is a way of life. Really, what do you all think. PEBO (president elect barrack obama) should feel so lucky that iraq is a democracy......
 
Yes, I'm sure it was a peaceful process which cost absolutely no money and had outstanding results. The world really needed it, the UN was just begging America to get involved. Every single person in Iraq wanted it too, there was absolutely no violence or resistance. Good thing they disarmed all those weapons of mass destruction they found, Saddam was planning to destroy the world. Of course, it also helped our economy because war is cheap. A fighter jet only costs about 12 dollars.
 
History is a rather general term. The question should be who's history? A History will be based upon who is telling the story. Will History be kind to W, it depends on who's history book you are reading. If you are reading Dick Cheney's history book then yes. If you are reading Muntadar al-Zeidi's [This was the iraqi journalist that through his shoes at W during the Press Conference yelling this is a Kiss you dog!] then no. Keep in mind that both of these individuals have polarized viewpoints about the Iraq War. There were plenty of people that Hated Saddam Hussein however, Once the occupation of Iraq ensued there were many people that hated americans as well.

See this is the problem with history, the only Kind history written about W. will be the history written by those that agree with him. However, since when is history a Good or Bad thing?

History consists of both Good and Bad events therefore a real history should reflect both sides of the story.

Perhaps a better question would be, "Will an objective history be Kind to George W. Bush for having taken part in overthrowing Saddam Hussein's dictatorship?"
 
Getting rid of "the butcher of Baghdad" is one of a very few positive accomplishments of W. The Iraqis rejoiced in Saddam's departure, then almost immediately wanted Americans to go away. The deaths of thousands of young Americans in a place where we're not wanted and they're counting the days until our departure, partly negates the positive effects of Saddam's removal. Iraq has had a few elections now and is beginning to have an actual democracy, but neighboring Iran is going the opposite way and the changes in Saudi Arabia and Egypt et al are still tiny.

There are more Iraqi citizens dying now from within than any time in their history, and Saddam was a duly elected president.
The country looks more like we have spread the seeds of discontent rather than democracy.
If you go back a few years you will find we here in the United States, helped Saddam seize power, and for many years he was considered a friend, much like our involvement with Cuba and Iran, until he decided to live his own life and quit taking orders from us.
Iraq posed no military threat to the United States, so there was no need to invade and destroy their infrastructure and put him on trial, and they played no part in 9/11.
