Will GM be allowed to fall or will the government give them more money?

GM needs to be cut loose. They are hemorrhaging money faster than Fed Gov can pump it in. They need to file for bankruptcy and reorganize. Get lean and smart.
 
let them fail, let them all fail banks, cars companies, Insurance companies all of them

if they are too big to fail then they need to fail
 
They are going for Ch. 11...which means the government will pay...which means we pay. This was just in the news.

I don't feel sorry for them at all, because the first time this happened back in the 80's, they didn't do anything to re-think their strategy and decided to just ride out the recession, while the other automakers learned their lesson.
 
They should have been made to file a structured bankruptcy in the first place.

Fact 1: they could have gotten out from under the oppressive thumb of the unions.

Fact 2: They would still be producing cars, and employing people

Fact 3: It would have pushed out the executives responsible for the mess in the first place.

As it stands now I don't think they have learned anything, nor will they if they are given more money. the union doesn't help. i would love to make half of what the average auto worker makes with the benefits they get.
 
GM should be allowed to fail. So should the rest of the long line companies with their hands out. Face the facts we are sliding into a depression and there is nothing the government can do to stop the slide. The Dow has lost 46.01% of its value in the last year. We are just one report away from double digit unemployment. 5 million homes are in foreclosure. Does anyone out there honestly believe that this is all going to just turn around? This is as real as it gets folks. The sooner we get rid of the dead weight that is pulling us down the sooner we will recover.
 
They should just let them file for bankruptcy. If they did that they would come out a much stronger company in the longrun because they would get to renegotiate union contracts.
 
our govt is so dumb, you are probably right. :(

they should of let them fail the first time around. it's likely to happen anyway... no matter how much money they toss at the problem.
 
Even though I worry about my Grandparents (that is living on a GM pension) I really hope that they go through Bankruptcy like they should have months ago... My family can take care of my grandparents.... but if GM even wants to be a competitor anymore bankruptcy will have to be an option.... Ford didn't take any bailout money and I have been hearing they are doing fine... could be better, but nothing like GM.
 
GM should fall. But ther are too many Union jobs at stake for Democats to let that happen.
 
They will get their money.

They are portraying themselves to be on the brink so they can get more.

How can they turn THEM down after everyone else gets so much?
