Will Ford Contour Sport parts fit in my Ford Escort?

My transmission went out on my ford escort zx2 and was curious as to see if my friend's ford eontour sport's transmissin would fit in my car.

They are both '98s and both are manual transmissions.
any help would be greatly appreciated! :)
