Will empty cities promote biodiversity when civilization collapses?

not to sound like a pessimist but civilization is going to collapse, and probably very soon.

when i look at pictures of megalopolyses i see fascinating structures that have defied gravity that rise out the earth.

i feel like even though we advocate our planet's destruction we are also building great habitats for a new form of ecosystem that will gradually take over our cities as we perish.

could this be true?
what kind of plants and animals will live in them
