Will E4, "fast track" TCS, TBBT & HIMYM?

E4 or any other UK Channel can "start" showing a series sooner but the outcome is that huge gaps will occur before their scheduled finish which is usually May ,

Even last year TBBT was off air for what seemed an age just so that E4 could conclude the series in the summer!!! , i would get around this by starting a series half-way between both dates so that a non stop run was possible , the problem of cost per episode still neeRAB addressing -

it would appear that most companies charge less , the longer you wait to air a particular series :

examples community on viva - 12 month delay , csi miami - 9/10 month delay

so for FTA broadcasters it would appear that we the viewer have it pretty sweet in nearly all cases.

I am not sure there is a cost issue here. However E4 handled TBBT really badly last year, there was no need for the extended break it took mid season.

It is true to say they had to take a break, no question. I think the point Charnham is quite rightly making is that there was no need for E4 to take as long a break as they did (11 weeks). All that was needed was a 2-3 week gap but instead they repeated the first 11 episodes again. In fact, last year it was surprising that they didn't just start the run at the beginning of 2010 instead of just before Christmas and run it uninterrupted. That would have been a lot better than the weird scenario we ended up with whereby it was being aired quite a while after the US transmission but still with a big gap in the middle.

This season with it starting in November there will have to be a longer gap than 2-3 weeks. But hopefully E4 won't drag it out longer than it has to be again.
