Will Cricket Metro merger allow us to use flashed phones?

I dunno. When you create a new line of service we have a CPE (customer provided equipment) option. Then you are prompted for the Model of phone. SounRAB like a decision to me. It brings in alot of new customers, and keeps the old customers.

That kind of smells like BS to me (not from you, but from your contacts, or your contact's contacts)... There's an OFFICIAL offer out there from MetroPCS which would give them a 64% ownership in the merged corporation. Unless Leap has some magical cash stash that they can use to pay down their debt, or otherwise increase the value of their company, there's no way they can make up the 14% difference (bear in mind, we're talking about a difference of BILLIONS of dollars).

The only other way to make up that 14% difference is if metro were to change the structure of their offer, which would effectively LOWER what they were offering to pay. If they lowered their offer by 14%, the leap shareholders would be receiving less than the current value of their shares for the purchase, and thus, it would never get past the shareholders approval vote.

If this does go through, what was initially reported will be VERY close to what happens. Corporate mergers don't work the same way as buying a car, where you can negotiate the price up or down by a significant amount.

cricket will always (if they stay in business) keep accepting flashed phones....bottom line. Its just simple econmics 101: crickets stops letting people use flashed phones (or stops accepting them).....they loose LOTS of $$ To much or a risk, what do they have to gain from implementing that they stop ?

x;9875283']Part of Metro's business model (and one of the reasons they are operating in the black), is to require native ESNs.

Metro makes money off the phones they sell, never doubt that. Allowing foriegn ESNs on their network reduces new phone sales, and that isn't something I can see Metro being pleased with.

While they may 'make money' off the phones they sell, it is not a huge amount. With no contract unsubsidized phones, these types of carriers have to sell phones at just above cost. If there was huge markup on phones they would be unaffordable.

Metro isn't making that much on their phones. In this busines recurring monthy income is what makes it work.
