Will Cricket accept a Bad ESN due to unpaid phone bills on verizon?

First off I would like to state that apparently your vision is getting a little on the bad side, thus I have quoted what was in the second line of my previous text. (try and squint real hard to be able to read it)

Second off I would like to say that I apologize, as I was unaware, thus the posting quoted above.

Thirdly I would like to say that I would delete it if i could, however there is no delete button on the post.

Fourthly, IF there are any moRAB reading this: PLEASE DELETE my previous post as apparently it has broken the Terms of Service. (just in case anyone else missed it in the original post.....

Fifthly and lastly, I would like to bring to your attention that flashing a phone is considered illegal in and of itself in most states, as it violates the terms of service for the phones, you know that little contract you sign when you get the phone? Or the one you click "I have read andaccept the terms of service" when you are installing the software needed to hook the phone up to the computer?

So I have an opportunity to buy a phone, but the seller claims that it has a bad ESN due to unpaid bills on the verizon network. Does this mean that it falls into the blacklisting and cricket wont accept it on their network?

Also does this go for all phones with similar bad ESN reasoning.

Thanks

flashing, unlocking is not illegal in any state. it violates terms with a company's policy in some cases.. but not illegal at all. property is yours. you can do whatever you wish as long as it does not violate federal laws (fcc, etc) e.g. esn cloning

Your thread has been deleted as per your request. I will forgo issuing you a warning you as you admitted to your mistake and apologized and asked for the situation to be rectified.

Carry on.....

Yes, Cricket will accept those phones. Cricket doesn't have access to Verizon, Sprint's US Cellular, Alltel, etc. "bad esn" database.

Actually, this is the whole idea of flashing a phone. You can't stand your current carrier, go get it flashed to Cricket and bingo, you have a phone again with an unlimited plan.

The only drawbacks Cricket MAY have is if the phone was previously on a Cricket account that was suspended due to non payment. That only means the phone can't be activated for 30 days.

Hope this helps.

So this got out of hand really fast. :-)

The phone is from ebay of course. There are tons of voyagers and dares for relatively cheap as you all have checked im sure. This isnt my first flash Ive done soem HTC's myself in the past so I understand the techy side of things. I just dont have much experience with unpaid phone bills and bad esns, you know?

So Im guessing Ill be just fine with anything I buy as long as its not blacklisted. Ill probably just get it, its from like jersey and Im in san diego so the markets are totally different.

Thanks again.

Yes, they are for now. But eventually people will get more educated and realize they are sitting on a phone that could be flashed to another provideer.

Cricket is revolutionizing the Cell industry. They will take any phone. It doesn't matter to them as long as it is a CDMA phone. The other carriers will follow suit one day.

It used to be that the "lower income" people would come to me with phones, repairs, etc. I am starting to see more and more "middle income" people that see the benefits of Cricket service.

Because when a phone is reported lost/stolen, or has a bill owed, the esn is blacklisted on the original carrier. So in this area, Verizon is the roaming partner. I have experienced first hand getting forwarded to the billing department, on a flashed phone, while roaming.

Of course everyone is entitled to their opinion but from 100% of my customers the verdict is cricket phones suck and they are way over priced.
You can take advantage of all the features cricket has to offer on most flashed phones.
If your a savvy shopper it wont be any more trouble to buy a flashed phone than it is to buy a cricket phone.

True no one cares Isn't it great

I am guessing you didn't hear about the lawsuit? Tha guvment say its yos do wat ya want wit it.

You can flash it and activate it with Cricket. Whatever is going on with the phone on another carrier really doesn't matter. I'd say in most cases you are better off just getting a new phone through Cricket. Then your roaming, premium extended coverage and everything else is absolutely guaranteed to work. With a flashed phone it can be iffy depending on who you have flash it for you and whether the phone can be fully flashed or not. In my area a partial flash (Talk and Text) is $35. A full flash would be in the $50 to $80 dollar range. (Talk, Text, Data, MMS etc..)
Getting a new phone you get the first month of service FREE, activating your flashed phone you are paying the first month up front, you also have to pay to get it flashed and then you have the chance of having to deal with the phone not being flashed correctly. In my opinion its more hassle than its worth. Get a new phone, take advantage of all the features Cricket has to offer, save yourself some trouble too.

We've been flashing phones for years, buying them on ebay. What you fail to forget is large carriers subsidize their phones by creating 2 year contracts. When is the last time you told someone you bought a phone for 200 bucks and they went :O WOAH THATS EXPENSIVE! It is because the larger carriers have them thinking cell phones cost 50 dollars, and you have to deal with a 2 year contract.

Until they dump the 2 year contract and subsidized phones and make people pay 100-300 for a cell phone, bad esn phones will be ALL over the place for cheap. I thought like you did 5 years ago, and now I've realized that it won't ever change until the government steps in.

Enjoy your cheap flashed bad esn phones forever boys.

SounRAB like a phone I saw in the buy/trade/sell area on this forum. The guy bought the phone with a bad ESN from somebody else and sounRAB like he is trying to pass it on to u. Just be careful.

Verizon is my roaming partner also and I used a blacklisted ENV in LA prior to the MetroPCS agreement all the time. I wouldn't be too concerned anyway, people who use cricket don't really roam much.
