Will "Civilization IV" run on the new Windows 7 operating system?

I just got a new computer that runs with the Windows 7 operating system. My old computer ran with Windows XP. I previously owned Civilization III which I played on my old computer. I then sold it to my friend. Since selling my game, I miss playing Civilization, and I wanted to by the newest version (Civilization IV) for my new computer. I've used Google to try and find answers to whether or not it will run on Windows 7 and the results are inconclusive. I don't want answers that someone found from the forums that come up as the first or second result with a Google search. I've tried that and it hasn't made sense to me at all. I'm hoping someone has firsthand experience and can tell me for sure whether or not buying Civilization IV for my new computer is worth it or if it will be a waste of time and money.
