Will Cineworld put their prices up on 1st April

a few facts.....

Unlimited is not expected to rise anytime soon.

the 3D uplift will increase as of today, however, all ticket prices are increasing as of today, so before all the unlimited customers start whining, everyone is paying more.

The reason, 140 brand new 3D digital projectors going into many sites, increased distribution requests from the distributors, higher material costs of products and building costs.

Cineworld is the ONLY UK chain that offers the range of films, Bollywood, European, arts and so on in major cinemas frequently.

The new live sports events, this costs a vast amount to finance and install, and wages, you want the service, so you have to pay the wages.

Unlimited offers a great way of saving money, even at

There have been times when I've seen people getting wound up, sometimes justifiably, but I've never seen it get really abusive. If it is a big problem it's easily fixed. Termination of the card and banned from the cinema. Yes its hard to stop them if they are banned because there are so many customers but it's still worth doing and trying to ban them.

believe me if we could we would ban them, there is one customer that comes to our site, that is so rude and abusive, some staff disappear when he comes on site, he even complains everytime to customer services and is abusive to them also...

He even set up a face book page slagging ME off... i have never laughed so much, and he was proved wrong in what he was saying but still continued the diatribe....

i just smile at him nicely when he comes in now and then turn to walk away........

Maybe your manager neeRAB to speak to head office about it and ask where he or she stanRAB if the card does get revoked and this guy is told he is banned. Even if he hasn't the fact he has had his card cancelled and he now believes he is banned may make him not bother going to your site.

The only real problem I have with my local Cineworld is at times the staff are useless and seem to have no initiative at all. I go during the week in the afternoon so not the peak busy period. For this reason the box office is closed and tickets are sold at the concession stand. If a person turns up just wanting a ticket paying cash and no refreshments they're stuffed.

I went to see Astro Boy (what a mistake!) making sure I was there in time eeven though it's quiet that time of day. For some reason that day there were more people.
Not to worry I have plenty of time. I have a good 15 minutes before showtime and that's the start of the adverts and trailers.

Every sod seemed to want food including hotdogs, coffee, nachos the lot. I have an unlimited card which i can't use in the pay by credit card machine and can't get my ticket in advance so had no choice but to line up to get my ticket.
There were two pople behind the counter. one serving the other standing next to him like a puppy. There was no sign of her being trained although she might have been. This made her useless and just one guy serving as the line got longer and longer and people were looking at the clock thinking the same thing.

Logic says if you see a busy line you either open up another till. If she can't then he serves and she does the popcorn, drinks etc to speed up the service. Nope, as he went and got the popcorn she would either go with him like they were joined or stand there waiting for him to return so she can continue watching.
Logic also says the experienced guy would send her to ask for assistance out front. Nope! Further away you have another experienced member of staff standing looking gormless waiting for the next person with ticket who could have gone and informed someone help was needed.

I get served with an emotionless "Sorry about the wait" which we both knew he wasn't that bothered by at all.
So despite getting there early and having adverts and trailer time I finally got through into the screening room and the film had started 10 minutes ago which meant I had missed the start, the Professors son being killed and the robot coming to life and having his son's face. I knew that had happened before I went but I still struggled to get into the film and thought about giving up and walking out.

I stayed to the end coming out about 4ish by which time the kiRAB had arrived, it was getting really very busy, the line was even longer than when I went in and still the box office wasn't open despite more staff being on view.

It's understandable in that situation on that day if I and other people weren't in a good mood and if some weren't particularly polite to staff.
All it needed was one member of front of house staff to have the initiative to recognise that a build up of customers waiting means you/they aren't coping and something neeRAB to be done whether it's opening the box office or putting another person on concessions. At the very least saying if you are an unlimited customer and you don't require refreshements go through. The person at the ticket checkpoint could check the unlimited card before allowing through and making a note of which film they were seeing and time they went in
.
I've worked in retail so know what it's like and how rude, offensive and ignorant people can be, but at times it is understandable why they are like that, although there is a very low limit to what is acceptable in showing their displeasure.

Wowsers, Thank god I have my unlimited card!

Im planning on seeing 3 or 4 movies this weekend in Glasgow, so its absolutely well worth its 13.50, and good to hear its not rising anytime soon!

I think more people should consider getting a card, just 2 movies a month more than pays for its price, and like me you will probably find you end up going a lot more!

It is really worth it. Before I got mine last year we were going to out local odeon at least 3 times a month sometimes as many as 4. So it was such a bargain for us. Now we go and see films more than once a week. Last week we saw 3.

If it's busy someone will open a till just for people with carRAB. My cineworld does have a ticket place for just unlimited card users but there's rarley anyone there

I have an unlimited card and I queue up with the rest of the cinema goers waiting to be served at peak times whilst the one person is on the counter serving the 100 odd people in the queue whilst the other three counters remain shut. I then queue up and wait to hand over my ticket to the one man collecting tickets for the entire 14 screens. Then (although I refuse to pay the prices) you have to queue up for food with one person serving.
I should add, should someone want pick and mix sweets, the ticket collector has to leave his post and go and serve the customer.

Not once am I rude to the staff as I am as laid back as they come, but I can understand where less patient people are. I can't speak for other cineworlRAB but the Feltham one is understaffed and a lot of the staff are rude and grumpy (probably because they are overworked)

In my one for the early screenings you usually have one person doing tickets and refreshements and sometimes one collecting tickets. Sometimes they don't even have that. It looks like an one person operation until you go round to the screens and then you find more members of staff.
I don't think they are understaffed at that time of day. If they are lucky they get about 100 people across about 12 screens. It's the actual system that is wrong. If you are getting a buld up of customers than they need to have an contingency plan to deal with it even if it's just opening up the box office so the person on the refreshments counter is now only dealing with that and not tickets too.

As I said to the guy who served me yesterday when he initially said that you can't do unlimited tickets in advance. If I turn up and don't want refreshements I can just go straight through. My seat is already on the system as taken for that performance when I got the ticket and for the first screening the number of customers you have is so small it's unlikely you'll double book a seat by mistake.
It's different if you are taking about the 4pm-ish and later screenings, weekenRAB or during the school holidays as the cinema is busy, but for that first screening during school terms it's not a problem as the cinema hardly has any customers.

It would help if you could use the unlimted card in the self-service ticket machine or if the ticket collector had a hand held swipe machine like they have in restaurants. Again you could bypass the refreshments line during busy perioRAB and just get your ticket and go in.
