An older friend of mine is flying from Cleveland,OH to Columbia,NC and needs to rent a car when he gets there. Knowing that he does not have credit or debit cards, I am concerned that he will not be able to rent a car. He will only be staying a couple of days. Years ago I ran into the same problem and If I remember correctly the company (I think it was Avis) called my bank to confirm ID and active accounts. Per that phone call they agreed to accept cash (not checks).
