if you have a droid with android 2.1 will you be able to upgrade to android 2.2 or will you have to buy a new phone with android 2.2 already installed on it?

It will depend on what you mean by "droid". If you mean the Motorola Droid, then yes. If not, then it will depend. The Nexus One, Moto Droid, and according to HTC, " the already released Droid Incredible and the Desire, as well as the soon-to-be-released Evo 4G, myTouch Slide and other "upcoming models" (which it did not name)". The updates come as OTA (over-the-air) updates. This means that they will automatically download and install themselves onto your phone as long as it is on, has signal, and has decent battery life left. They usually send the update out in batches. But, once they do send them out, the file usually makes it online for users to manually install onto their phone (as long as it is the proper model that was intended to receive the update in the first place). I did this when the 2.1 update came out. I was impatient, just like countless other people lol. I am excited for this update as well. Actually even more so, seeing as how I will finally have flash support on my phone. I have been waiting patiently for that along with so many others.
