I'm looking to buy a used car, and my budget is around $2000, and I was looking on craigslist and found a 1998 suzuki swift with 90,000 miles on it for $2000, and I was wondering if this was worth it.
I need a car that is going to last me for at least a couple years, and I don't know much about suzuki.
How many miles could I expect out of it?

With a $2000 dollar budget you best bet is to look for an early 90's cavalier or escort. In response to your question, nothing with the name suzuki in front of it is going to last you. Trust me it is on it's last legs. If you do want to buy that car, don't pay more then $1300.

Another option you way have if you have decent credit is to put down $1500 on a new car and look for payments around $200 or less per month, when you pay it off, sell it and buy another new car. This technique will allow you to drive a car that is under warranty. If something goes wrong with it, you don't pay for it.

I have a 94 geo metro (same car as the suzuki swift; both metros and swifts were made at the same factory in Ontario Canada). It got up to 256,000 miles.

I also have a 96 geo metro and it just turned 190,000 miles this past week. I take good care of it and it's paid for itself many times over.

As long as the rust isn't bad, it should be a good car for you
