Will a standard Blood Test show Pregnancy?

I was at the hospital yesterday with chest pain and palpitations. I had numerous of tests done including a blood test, which the doctor said was normal.

They asked me when my next period was due I said next week, only to realize today that I'm actually a week late which is unusual for me. If I was pregnant, would it have shown up on the blood test they done yesterday? Or would they not have bothered to test for it since i was complaining of chest pain?
