will a GM 3.8l thermostat fit a 3.4l?

buddie has a grand am 3.4l and i just took out my thermostat from my 3.8 GP nothin wrong with it just upgraded mine was all so i am going to see if my old one will fit his since his is done for. i know they are cheap but dont feel like gettin one. so my question is will they fit.
