HI
If your talking about the cam its self then NO as each cam on a DOHC motor only has half the lobes where a cam for a SOHC has all the lobes.
You do know what DOHC and SOHC means ?
DOHC = Duel over head cam
SOHC = Single over head cam.
Now the whole motor may be changed out and most likely work.
good luck

and if it does will anything need to be done that ford themselves has to do?
I and wanting to swap engines ....and if it does will fod themselves need to do anything a mechanic.

I believe the engines will bolt in at the same locations, but the wiring harness will be different and the pcm will have to be changed also. I recently put a 99 SOHC into a 2001 SOHC, and had problems enough with knock sensors and other small things, so be ready for a big headache.
