Will a Canadian 1999 Toyota Corolla, with 300,000 kms, start to have problems...

...anytime soon? 300,000 km = that’s about 200,000 miles.

What typical things tend to “GO” out on a car with that kind of mileage? Anything serious / expensive ?

Are alternators and new struts expensive on Toyotas? I think it will need both of those things, so how much will that cost to get done at a Toyota dealership?

Canadian roads are filled with salt in the winters, so that winter salt-slush eats the steel like little monsters !
Already there is rust spots around his front windshield, some of the doorframes, and a bit starting around the wheel arches. Is that a bad sign?

I was just wondering, because a neighbour is selling his Corolla for $1,500 and I was just wondering if that was too much to pay for such a car, especially if its going to begin having troubles soon.
No maintenance.
All he did was change the oil and oil filter, nothing else.
