Will a '88 honda accord valve cover gasket work on a 95 honda accord?

We just bought a 1995 honda accord and we replaced the battery. Once we replaced the battery it ran fine with the exception that it skipped from 1st to 3rd gear. It is an automatic. Then we changed the oil and after that it wouldn't start. Like when you turn the key it sounds like it's going to but it never does. We checked the spark plugs and they are covered in oil.We know that we need to replace the solenoids to get the gear problem fixed. We think that maybe the reason the oil is leaking on to the spark plugs is because the valve cover gasket. We also have an '88 Honda accord and were wondering if we could just take the valve cover gasket off that one and put it on the '95?
Okay we didn't buy a piece of junk. The car was fine when we got it!Maybe ppl that are grouchie shouldn't be getting on the internet to answers someones question when they don't even know what they are talking about? The car was running fine. We knew that we needed to replace the sensor in the transmission which isn't any trouble at all. Other than that everything was fine. The oil leak happened after we got it and changed the oil. I would appreciate it if people who are on here to criticize would find something better to do with their time. Only qualified answers please. It's amazing to me how people answer questions just to get points. Like getting points really matters anyway...?
