I've looked all over the web, wikipedia and everything and I can't find an explanation of what the number after the X represents. I have 700x25C tires on my bike I went to the bike store asking for the same size tire and when I got home I noticed it was a 700x26C. I put it on and inflated it, and it seems to fit, I just want to understand what the 25 and 26 represent so I have an idea if it's unsafe to ride on.
Will a 700 x 26C bicycle tire fit where I had a 700 x 25C tire?
