will a 1978 suzuki rm 125 gas tank work on a 1978 suzuki rm 250?

Unfortunately it won't fit.the 250 has a longer frame and a deeper neck set.You may get it on but it will look like it's wearing a hat 2 sizes too small'
 
i have a rm 250 but i broke my gas tank the only one i could find was for a rm 125 but i don't know if i should buy it if it doesn't work
