I have cruise control (Classic King), but don't use it all time long...
With or without cruise control Throttle Boss allows to just let your hand on grip, no grab anyway, just let roll. Do appreciate.

If anyone is interested in the Wild One Chubby 517 I have a set for sale here:

http://hdforums.com/forum/motorcycle-parts-for-sale-misc-parts/373638-wild-one-chubby-517-bars.html

I am in the same situation and would like to change out my 07 RKC standard bars. I have been analyzing different threads. Do the 518's compare to the Heritage bars? What about cables?

They are a different bend from the Heritage, the pullback is much greater on the Chubbys. With most bars you will need the extended control wiring (about $150 for the complete set).

Extensions were needed, while they stated not...
I bought mine from:

NAMZ Custom Cycle Products, Inc.

I was about to order NHCX-MB04 extension.Customer service recommended "The handlebar extension harness will fit and work just fine with your 2008 FLHRC. I would rather see you purchase the 8" extensions because you're better off have wiring that is too long than too short. "
I asked for price and delivery to France (march 2008)."The price of the extensions are $51.99 and Priority Mail is $23.00 for a total of $74.99. Allow 6-10 days for delivery according to the post office and paypal would you best bet for payment"

Perfect deal !

To bad you cant try the WO 550's. A wider bar with less rise than 518's. They have a much better wrist postion than the 508's or 518's IMHO.

Excellent Post
I have the Chubbys 518s on my 97 Road King and think they're ok for short runs, but still a little wide for manuvering sharp slow turns. I went on a 200 mile ride with some friends through the mountains of PA yesterday and my arms & back were killing me before I got home. I'm 6' tall with a 35" sleeve length and a 32" inseam and was hopeing the 508s might solve the pain and manuverabiliy. Using my Road Pegs also seem to put me in an uncomfortable position with the 518s as well. Looking for a set of bars that set in a little more with good manuverability; any suggestions?????????????

Personally, I think that the 508's will be less comfortable than your 518's. They will come closer to you, they will have less width, and they will also turn your wrists out into the famed 'wheelbarrel' position. If you were shorter / had a smaller sleeve length, they might be ok for you, but I think that if you try the apes, you will be pleasantly surprised. A lot of that upper back / neck pain comes from the downward angle of your arms, which puts a lot of pressure on your shoulder / rotator cuff area. When riding, you won't notice it, but chances are you are holding onto the bars / pulling against them, and are not relaxed a lot of the time (especially in mountain riding wher you don't want to go off the road!). This will strain a lot of muscles back there, and also trap some of the gazillion nerves that run through the area.

As a test, when riding on a straight highway, throw on the cruise control, sit straight up, and start to elevate your hands upward as to simulate having apes... see if you experience the relief of pressure on that area. Once you get to about a simulated 10" of rise I think you will notice a HUGE difference.... 10" seems to be the beginning / magic number. Let me know!
