Wii image (vertically) stretched on wide-screen TV even with the right settings?

Well, Here's my setup (and problem)

I have my TV (Sony Bravia, series KDL-32L4000) set to "Full" and my Wii set to 480p and 16:9. Why is it then, that my TV still looks stretched as if I have my TV set to normal (4:3) even though the picture takes up the whole screen. It looks almost just right, but the image is cut towards the top and bottom making the picture appear to stretch from top to bottom (if only slightly). I already bought the component cables thinking the TV might recognize the setup I'm going for, but sadly it still reads 4:3 on the display (which I still have set to "full") Most likely due to Nintendo trying to save a dime. What in god's name are those cables meant for then? What a waste of $40 in my opinion.

I basically think the image needs to be sandwiched vertically, but my TV doesn't have the settings to do that, being already set to "Full" and all

Any advice? I'm really starting to give up hope. I would gratefully accept any and all help.
