Project Gotham Racing 2

Ninja Gaiden

Doom 3

Just to name a few.
Couldnt find any high def pics of Panzer Dragoon Orta and Unreal Championship 2.
720p Xbox > 480p Wii

I still havent seen any Wii titles looking better than whats on the original Xbox.
Probably because the Wii's pixel shaders arent as advanced as the Xbox one.

You're right, never said you werent. Ill say it again... give Nintendo more time rather than a few weeks.

Its also worth noting that Xbox = DirectX. Its ten times easier to code a game compared to Nintendo consoles. It takes a longer amount of time to produce a good quality game for a Nintendo console.

I just compared a LAUNCH xbox game to Wii's ENTIRE available and near future release lineup.
Developers dont need time to "tap" into Wii's power because its the same architecture as the GCN which they already have been developing for the last 5 years!

In any case, the best looking Wii game could only look as good as the best looking Xbox game due to the hardware limitation.
So in any case, in 5 years when 360 and PS3 would've leaped and bounded technologically to the point of amazing immersion and graphics close to real life (see: Crysis) the Wii will be 10 years behind and people will see that and think its nothing but a kids toy with a crappy motion wand IMO.

Actually Nintendo profit almost half of their Wii earnings which means they are ripping you off.
360 and PS3 LOSE money on each console because their hardware costs more than what you buy it for.
Besides, Core 360 is only $50 behind the Wii and that will price drop too as does everything with time.

Nintendo set out to dominate the market with the GCN by diversing their gaming catalogue but it still flopped because after the initial hype people could see all the games were still rubbish despite Nintendo offering a 'different' approach.
Same could happen with the Wii as far as I'm concerned.

You'd be surprised how quickly prices are dropping for HDTV's.
Here in Australia, HDTV was only properly introduced less than a year ago but already some of the LCD TV's with HD support are coming close to the price of decent normal def TVs.
Which is why I decided to make the switch. Plus there are alot more HDTV's now available on the market opposed to regular TV's.
They ARE the way of the future. This is where the Wii will get left behind.

If you want fun first and foremost, the 360 offers that better than any other system generally speaking.
Wii has the wiimote but at the moment its got hardly any games which would be considered 'fun'.

My point went over your head. They're launch titles, developers are learning how to properly utilize the PS3. It's vastly different than the xbox 360.

why's a guy named super sayien jay pee making fun of the kiddie system?

PS i don't intend to buy any system. I play wow on and off instead.

Id also like to say this...

My Xbox has been the most dissapointing console ive had. The only games I used to play regularly were Halo 1+2 & PGR with some mates every now and then.

The rest were good games but they didnt last atall. Ive got a stack of games that I dont think ill touch ever again, even though they were fun for a week or 2.

The 360 is a completely different story though and Microsoft seem to be doing much better now.

That is a good point, if the wii was a normal console I would not buy it because it is a ripoff (especially being $100 extra in the UK). I will though since its so fun it makes me not care about the price

It's very obvious that you have never held a Wii mote in your hand. I did not buy the Wii to be a graphical powerhouse, I knew there was not bleeding edge under the hood. What I did know is that the Wii is FUN. Is that not what a game is suppose to be? Anyway, if I want ass kicking eye candy I will just stick to my PC, which BTW, blows consoles out of the water in the power department any day of the week and always will.

I like how you've taken games all from the end of the Xbox's life cycle and are comparing it to Wii launch titles.

Graphics aren't the most important thing there is, you know. Gameplay is where it's at.

The comparison in this thread doesn't hold much water. Comparing late gen Xbox games to launch Wii games is about as apples to oranges as you can get

So that we're not taking any bias MS/Nintendo views, let's compare launch PS2 titles to the late PS2 titles

First, let's look at a couple racing games. First, a PS2 launch title; Driving Emotion Type S

Now let's look at a newer title; Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec

Now, I do realize that two different companies made these two titles. With that in mind, let's compare a launch PS2 title, made by Square, to another title made by Square

First, let's look at a screenshot out of another PS2 launch title; The Bouncer

And now, a screenshot out of a newer PS2 title; Final Fantasy XII

I've played these four titles, and I can vouch for how much the graphics have improved over time. So, what's the point? I'll answer that question with another question; what was the only constant with these four titles? The answer is simple: the PS2 itself had not differed

In case you're unable to comprehend what that means, I'll explain it. Since the hardware (PS2) has not changed, but obviously the graphics are much more detailed/dynamic, that can only mean that the software has been getting better over time. The companies that made these titles needed time to create better looking games for the system. The Nintendo Wii is no different. It has not been available long enough on the market for anybody to push the graphics on the machine. Are the graphics terrible? Absolutely not. Is there room for improvement? Definitely, and I'm positive future titles will look much better. Also, it's near pointless to say future titles will look bad because of how development pictures look. Most every game that I've seen development pictures of, looks a hell of a lot better once the game was released

In my eyes, there are two types of gamers. First, there are fanboys. To me, a fanboy is somebody who will relentlessly bash any product that they aren't on the bandwaggon of, regardless if they have a logical argument or not. Bashing a system when it hasn't been available to the public is a sure sign of this, especially considering that just about every system (yes, even the Xbox you are praising) has gone through the same process

The second, which I would simply call "gamers," are the ones who can appreciate a variety of gaming, the ups & downs to different systems, and who know that launch titles/the first few weeks on the market DO NOT display what the console is capable of

And yes, there will be online multiplayer with the Wii, it just hasn't been turned on yet. Most of us have known this for a while

Cliffnotes: Give the companies some time to make better looking titles for the Wii. Most gaming systems have had the same problems at launch, the Xbox was no different. Nobody likes a fanboy

wow, you take your gaming very seriously.

i'm amazed that you feel so passionately about dual pixel shaders and get so worked up over it.

for someone who doesn't like the wii it seems it's all you fucking think about.

Hence my wording of slightly more powerful. And I guess you have to be right, it's not like the reviewers and people that do this for a living know what they are talking about. Some asshat on a forum obviously knows what he is talking about more then anyone else.

Personally I don't care, if it lets you have a feather in your hat to know that you are right then so be it, I'm gunna go have fun playing my Wii

I love how Zelda is getting such high rating, but the damn thing does not even have voice overs? WTF, even shaqfu had voice overs.
Fucking fanboys.

For starters, 2 of those pics are PRE-RENDERED but you are right, it does take time for a system to get good and the developers to master the hardware.
But heres the thing, the Wii uses the same hardware architecture as the Gamecube so any developer who has previously worked on the GCN will be able to work with the Wii instantly. Even Nintendo themselves have stated this!
So in reality, the devs on the Wii are just lazy and theres also a chance the Wii could lack a small range of graphical effects available in hardware on the Xbox's GPU since it was already more advanced over the GCN to begin with.

Xbox at launch didnt have those problems.
It had stellar games and amazing graphics from the get-go.

This thread, as I have already stated many times isnt trying to troll.
Its trying to prove a point about graphics. I used DOA3 against whatever Wii had to offer and nothing compared.
Either the devs are lazy or the Wii's hardware isnt as good as people think even by xbox 1 standards.

at idiots trying to compare specs.
The 7xx MHz CPU in the Wii (custom powerPC) is EASILY twice as powerful as the 733 MHz celeron in the xbox.
The GPU is also more powerful. Its supposedly around twice what the gamecube had, which was NOT that far behind the xbox.

Come back when some games that actually push the Wii hardware come out. maybe metroid prime 3. MP 1 and 2 on gamecube compare quite well against halo (and actually look better than anything out on wii so far).

Either way, id rather play Zelda on Wii than anything on xbox OR 360.
