Wii Component Cable Help

I've had these things for a few days. I was talking about my problem in a different thread but that thread is long gone.

Anyway, something doesnt seem right....

Any type of curve in games, such as the pins and the whole character on bowling that I'm playing right now, seem very blocky as the shapes curve. There is no smooth line even straight up the gutter of the lane....

It looks like |_ type shapes as curves happen.

I'm going to take actual pictures when the camera battery is done charging. Hopefully I can get some nice shots of it.

It's strange, even the text that just came up for "Spare" was very pixelly. It just seems like a setting must be wrong or something. Its not subtle...pretty obvious.

I havent switched back to my regular AV cables to make sure, but I'm pretty positive it looked better.

Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Most people seem happy with the component cables so I feel like this is not normal. I have a Samsung HD LCD, My cable HD channels and XBOX component stuff looks amazing so it can't be the tv.

Can anyone help?

Make sure your TV is reporting that its receiving a 480P signal and that you changed the Wii settings to 480P. I dont really know what you are describing looks like but its possible that since your on a different input that all your video settings on the TV are different from when you had the Wii going into composite input so your contrast/brightness/sharpness/color/etc. could be on completely different settings.

You know what, now that I think of it, I think I'm using 1080 for the xbox and for my hd channels. or 720p....or something else. So i have to switch that down to 480p (there is no higher setting for wii is there? Do you know if there are plans for it to support 720 or 1080 in the future?).

Will I have to switch it again when I use my other stuff?

I'm going to be honest, this video shit REALLY confuses me. The whole 480, 720 and 1080 thing. I dont really understand it...I hear the p is better, and that 720p looks better than 1080i, then some people say it doesnt. i just dont get it.

its all component through a component splitter box, then that box is hooked up to the component inputs on the tv since for some retarded reason, they only included one component input on my tv...a bunch of hdmi inputs but only 1 component.

So i have a splitter box, you just select the device you are using with a button. the signal has no interference, the xbox and digital cable box both work and look incredible so i've factored that out as a possible problem.

If you're using the components on the Wii it will unlock a new video output option in the Settings section allowing you to output to 720p IIRC.

I have the components myself, but a SD Wega TV, and the image looks nice & crisp with little noticable extra jaggies in Wii Sports or Zelda. CoD3 looks amazing with it.

Well how many HDMI's you have?

get two hdmi cables from firefold.com to run one to your HD box, and One to your 360.

Then run your wii in component. You might be losing alot of video since your running threw a spilter.

i tried it direct. its the same issue so its not that splitter box....i really dont want to invest all that money into hdmi cables at the moment. its at least 100 per device for minimal improvement. but yeah - its definitely not losing or messing with signal, i mentioned that above.

ill take a look for that 720 setting, i didnt see it though last time i was in the settings.

The jagged lines you are talking about are called aliasing. The Wii has them because it's not in HD or a graphical powerhouse. Aliasing is a more noticeable with HDTVs, especially LCDs.

It's just something we have to live with until the Wii's graphics get better. There may always be aliasing though, as graphics aren't the Wii's strong point. The maximum resolution it supports is 480p. No 720p, 1080i or 1080p.
