wifi support - need wpa2

I go to UT, their network uses wpa2 enterprise. The g1 does not support it and thus on campus I cannot use their network.

Is there any information about when the g1 will breceiving wpa2 enterprise support? Wpa2 personal does not do the job!

I contacted T-Mobile about this recently. The answer I got finally after finding a tech with some knowledge was that there are plans to support WPA enterprise and an update will be released first quarter 2009.

You can always try to lobby your ISD to enable WPA2.

I have WPA2 wifi on my home network.

when I first got my G1, it could not even find the network, even tho many other networks, including other wpa2 networks, were showing up.

SOLUTION:
for me, it was changing my router settings from the faster "N" type to the not as fast "G" type. It seems that a G1 can't detect "N"type networks.

so perhaps that is the problem you are facing...

No that's not it. My school uses WPA2 Enterprise with uses a usrn and pass authentication system opposed to WPA2 Personal which just needs a password.

Anyone have any ideas?

Today my neighbors shored up their wireless connection so I went out and bought a new wireless router for my laptop and phone, (that's right, I have my own cable internet connection hardwired to a modem for my desktop, but mooched off my neighbors for wifi, lol).

They finally got wise and password protected their network, so I bought a belkin G, set it up beautifully, very smooth... laptop connects, WPA/WPA2 security, no problems... G1 phone, authentication key entered, but won't hold the connection for a second.

I've Googled every combination of "G1, wpa, wpa2, internet, belkin (my router), generation G, etc..." and more.

I see you've had this problem for a while according to the dates of these posts. According to some reading I've done, the updates should have taken care of this issue with WPA AND WPA2...

I've read problem after problem on the net similar to ours, but I find that some people do not have problems connecting, at all, and others do.... and that's always the end of it.

Never have I found a resolution on any forum for those who have this issue, it's always it just works or it doesn't. There seems to be no rhyme or reason.

I am going to copy/paste and post links and maybe somebody can figure this out.

Android doesn't support WPA2 Enterprise. You need wifihelper to TRY if it works. I have the same issue, my university uses WPA2 enterprise... no luck connecting...

I posted how to connect to UT's wifi here:
http://rabroad.com/forums/f7/wpa2-on-cm-4-0-1-a-23531/

you should be able to take this info and connect to your Campus wifi in the same way.

Cheers! I have no idea how to find the .pem file for my uni though :/ They use GTA global trust or something... I have a .cert(s) file somewhere

Root your phone.

Download "wifi Helper" from the Android Market by Fan Zhang. Use it to setup your wpa_supplicants file; engineering mode requires the Pro version (at 0.99 USD, it's worth it...)

If you experience problems scanning for networks (this happened to me upon first installation)... make sure you have set "Allow Always" when wifiHelper asks for root permissions while running, and double check your configuration by using "Manage Configurations", and re-enter if necessary after setting the "Allow Always" permissions.

Maybe there is an app out there somewhere that supports WPA2 connections? I'm having the same problem, campus internet is WPA2 encrypted and I have no ability to write in a user name. Loon, are you on the newest version of Android? If so, does it offer the option of entering a username, and you're just still having problems?
