Hello All,
After having participated in the forum for some time, I've seen the comments about the use of the WiFi card and some of the problems that everyone has had from time to time. Having acquired a WiFi card recently, and trying to use it with my home Access Point (Linksys), and having it "fail" to connect (DNS timeout), I contacted another member on another forum in PM and was given some great instructions on removing ALL the WiFi files and doing a re-install. Lo and behold, IT WORKED!
But to delete ALL the files means searching for over 100 files, including all the language files. And having had my connection fail again (either through my not disconnecting WiFi before I removed the card, or through some application conflict), which meant I needed to delete all these files again, I decided to write an NS Basic program which would do just that - Delete the WiFi programs.
I've taken it a few steps further and the program, which I've attached, will do one of three things:
1 - Check and List the files - the listing is created as a Memo in the Memo application.
2 - Remove all languages EXCEPT English. (again a record is created in the Memo app)
3 - Remove ALL WiFi files created by the Palm WiFi Installer. This option requires that you Re-install WiFi.
I've tested it both with the Palm Simulator (POSE) as well as on my T3 and it has done what I programmed it to do.
I should also mention that I downloaded version 1.2 of the Palm installation today (5/16/2005) and the program functions with this newest version as well. File names haven't changed and it deleted the "leftover" language files just as in version 1.1.
If anyone has been having problems with the DNS Timeout or other areas, you may want to try using the Delete ALL WiFi files approach and do a re-install.
NOTE: See post by DeanDC10 for link to download the application.
