...University of Michigan? My 18 year-old son Blake will be going to college soon at the University of Michigan, and I am thinking of giving him my car to take to college, and I will just get a newer one. I have yet to mention this to him. My wife is not happy and thinks I should not give him it. She says with the type of car it is, he is going to use it just to pick up girls constantly, or its going to get carjacked, stolen, or vandalized, and that he will get hurt in the process. She also is saying that he will be used at college just for the car. He is our only child and I love my boy to death. I just want him to have a reliable vehicle and be happy at college. I know he is a good responsible kid, he has always had good grades in high school and has been a good athlete. His Jeep Cherokee has been giving him problem after problem with the engine and transmission, and its just not worth fixing anymore. The only thing I agree with my wife is that our son is like a walking hormone when it comes to girls. My wife keeps saying I'm making a big mistake if I give the car to him. He's constantly asking me if he can drive it though. I just don't want him to be stranded somewhere with a broken down car. I want him to have something reliable and not have the stress of his Jeep breaking down every 5 seconds, therefore taking his mind off of his classes. This car will prevent that in my opinion. The car is a Jaguar XK and its 4 years old. Do you think my wife is right, am I making a mistake in regards to giving him the car?
These are 2 pictures of him and his date in the car when I let him take her to their prom in it.
