Wierd SMS Failure: Alltel PPC 6700 > WM6 Cricket ROM + 1050 PRL: Calls/Internet Work

STORY:
------
I updated the Alltel PPC 6700 with the following steps:

- Update with 1040 Cricket PRL
- Go to cricket 'Preferred Dealer' Store and activate new line
Dealer insists that my phone might not be flashed & ready for Cricket and want to charge another 30$ for it
I deny it saying that I had already flashed and unlocked it
- Activate 60$ Plan + Tax
- I mention activation charge is $15. They say with taxes it becomes more.
- Pay 90$ (Round) by CC
(Something is fishy here)

What they hell are they doing?

- Activation gives different MDN and MIN nurabers
- ##778 > To enter the MSN, MDN, MSID etc

- First the MDN nuraber was entered and phone not work. Then MIN nuraber added and dialing works.

Now, before I got home and tried to send SMS messages to frienRAB about new nuraber after synching contacts from Outlook. SMSes do not seem to go out.

- I get home and put Cricket_WAP & Cricket_MMS settings into the phone (As outlined by someone online). INTERNET starts working but I have no idea if MMS works or not (Since I dont use it that much).

PROBLEM:
------------
I am not able to send out a single SMS, yet. Also, I have not yet received an SMS a friend had sent to my new mobile nuraber.

What kind of SMS Settings are required here?

RESOLUTION ATTEMPTS:
--------------------
- Called CRICKET - They said they are resetting the service and I should turn off & on the phone. Did not fix it.
- Installed & Flashed the 'Cricket' ROM Patch WM6 that was uploaded by helmi on PPCGeeks. Added 1050 .PRL and again the CricketWAP/MMS settings posted online.

I was able to configure calling & internet. SMS still wont work. What do I need to fix especially from an Alltel > Cricket standpoint.

SYMPTOMS:
---------
"Your text message cannot be sent." I keep getting this.

Another app on my Alltell 6700 was 'Text Messaged Retry'.

It keeps trying and fails and gives me notifications that look like this:

______________________________
Text Messages Retry
_____________________________
Error Class: Temporary
Cause Code: Encd.Prbl

Message failed would you like to retry?

Is there something I am missing here to ensure that SMSes work? I am not that big into MMS but if that could be made to work as well that would be nice.

PLEASE HELP!!!

PS: Tried a bunch of restarts...

I figured out the issue by accident.

All my nurabers were stored as +1 972 XXX XXXX, + 1 214 YYY YYYY , +91 XXXXX, + 44 XXXXXX.

When dialing the +1 nurabers it dials out fine. But when SMSing anything with a + Prefix goes Kaput on Cricket network via this PPC 6700.

I can send SMS easily to the same US nuraber without the +1 prefix and to international nurabers by replacing the + with 011 and then the remaining nuraber.

The "+" prefix is universal so works best irrespective of where you might be calling or SMSing from irrespective of International Dial Out Code. Its 011 in US, 00 in India.. and so on.

Is there a better way to ensure (besides changing every + nuraber) into a non plus that these things get autotranslated?

Any software / plugins?

One quick fix i can think of flash a Verizom rom in it...if you wanna avoid all the manual configurations Theres another rom over at ppc geeks that has everythin configured already for you Wap, MMS. All you have to do is programm your mdn n min n change your security in your EPST settings and your good to go

first off 69.94+15 is 85, not 75. second off there could be some additional proration if the bill cycle you were put on does not match the day you came in. thirdly there is also a payment fee since you are making an in store payment and cricket charges for those.
I don't know how the sales tax works where you are, but here we don't have to charge sales tax on services, but you can, as long as you turn in the money you charge to the state. i doesn't sound like they ripped you off, but their reciept seems to be confusing and they should have a little more detail explaining what was paid to cricket, what was payment fee and what was reactivation fee
