Wierd Problem on Droid

I've had my Droid for about a month and am having a consistent problem...on any phone call (incoming or outgoing) when I go to terminate the call, I can 'shake' the phone to get the screen to come back on, but it immediately goes back off...so there I am trying to get to the End key before the screen goes blank...Is anyone else having that problem and how can I solve?

I think I am having a similar issue. On occasion, during a call when I take the phone away from my head, the screen stays black for a few seconds longer than usual, then begins slowly flashing on and off. I just hold it away from head until it stops. But it is definitely annoying.

This MAY be stupid to ask, but is there anything on or near the proximity sensor that detects when the phone is against your ear? Maybe a thick scuff mark, smudge or finger print? Do you have a screen protector with a bubble that is near the sensor?

I'm no expert, but that is the first thing I would check.

I took the screen protector off and still happens...I don't know where the sensor is, so I'm not sure if what I'm looking for there...I'm about ready to go back to the store and get a replacement.

Usually just tilting mine will bring the screen back, but not always quickly, and it never disappears again on me, so I wonder if the sensor is working properly. Has it been dropped? Have you tried to play any games that rely on it sensing the phones position? I would try downloading and playing something like 'Tightrope Hero' to test.
