Wickerman remake

I am pained to hear of 'The Wicker Man' remake. What do they think they're doing? Why mess with practically classic films and waste money? And Nicholas Cage as well.

Totally agree. Perhaps they should just re-release the original?

I know thats no the most progressive standpoint but the original, in this case neeRAB no improvements.

To be fair, a lot of American's can't understand British accents, so it's only right that there be a remake, and the original 5/5 film be tossed in the bin :)

Its a brilliant story and the films a bit patchy and can be improved on in parts but.....

Hollywood havnt got a hope of catching the originals spirit and horrific climax. Not a chance .

I didnt bother when they remade another of my favourites Get Carter and it'll be a long time before I bother to see this.

Unfortunately, I think you might be right. :(

(I've said this before but just in case: according to the IMDb, Rowan Morrison was played by the actress who plays Rosie Miller in Eastenders).

How on earth do they think they can remake this?

The power of the film comes from the plot of where it is set. It's the folk songs and wiccan mythology that really gives the film that extra something special.

I'm dreading what they'll replace the folk song interludes with. It wouldn't surprise me if they replaced the folk music with the latest new pop sensation in America. I can really imagine them replacing the folk songs with a rock soundtrack, I really think that's what they'll go and do.

These remake films always tend to get remade by people who just don't get why the original was successful.
It's like they think that because they work in Hollywood who makes the most money, that means their financial success means they must be better.

But almost every remake of every classic film they butcher, hardly ever works...So why do they still try to do it?

Just re-release the original movie in cinemas instead of attempting to americanise it and claim it as their own success.

And considering the info on the film, it's a disgrace that they are being allowed to 'piggy back' on the Wicker Man name, as the film isn't even a remake, just a tripe attempt to copy a great English horror's idea.
