Put on a new clutch, tried to drive the car the gear shift (the actual stick shift inside the car) keeps falling out? What part or parts needs to be replaced? The shift plate thing that holds the rubber part around the bottom of the stick shift has not yet been put back on, I get it that might partially hold it but some thing else is wrong.

Will this nightmare ever end? I thought just putting the clutch would be enough of a problem it just seems like it's never ending.

Did this job yourself? Whatever. the Shifter Stick must be replaced into transmission, and further be replaced correctly and be secured by either 3 or 4 screws. The stick must engage the shifting forks levers, otherwise all is lost.
