...quit pulling? i am interested in buying a 1982 ironhead harley davidson 1000 sportster. When the bike is running and in neutral it makes a pinging or kinda rattleing noise, and when you pull in the clutch the noise goes away completely. the clutch was froze and wouldn't even pull in at first, and when took the primary casing off and ajusted the clutch and got it working. We put the casing back on and put it in first gear and it would start to pull but then it would make another noise and slip... what could this be and how difficult would it be fix it myself..
 
Any clutch in a bike that old has shot springs at a minimum.

Just replace the friction plates and springs and whatever mickey mouse thing it uses for a throwout or pressure plate.
