Why would someone back down from a debate?

lol I challenged this 23 year old kid to a debate, clear open challenge to debate him on his youtube video. But he did not show up nor answered the request. He is a communist that did not want to show up on a debate forum website. In the youtube comments page he threw personal insults and did not answer my opinions. Well after I debunked his views, He deleted my my debunks, so is he chicken? lol
Lol then later on I refused to debate because he does not know how to.
So, does that mean he forfeits?
I find that these days people don't respect that others have different views than them. I find it hard to debate with people because it usually ends up into a child's game of personal insults and name calling.

Debating is not arguing
 
That's the problem. Your too busy trying to challenge someone on their personal beliefs when u should've just left him alone. Nobody feels like debating on their personal views that's why it's called PERSONAL views. You can try to reason with a person, but arguing back and forth is corny and a waste of time.

some debates are not worth doing especially if the person is stubborn and unwilling to listen.

it gets to a point where you feel like your beating your head against a wall.
