Biden Jr., will have shorter question-and-answer segments than those for the presidential nominees, the advisers said. There will also be much less opportunity for free-wheeling, direct exchanges between the running mates.

McCain advisers said they had been concerned that a loose format could leave Ms. Palin, a relatively inexperienced debater, at a disadvantage and largely on the defensive.

The New Your Times is a major newspaper of reference. They had also endorsed John McCain.
 
probably the same reason your abortion loving candidate refused to debate anybody for most of "his" campaign... because his answers aren't what anybody but a small fraction of the US wants to hear...
 
What's even funnier than this is the defence of Palin in the answers here...'she's running for VP'...so what??? YES, she is! So what's the problem, answer the damn questions.

My own response is...but but but, she's the one with all the EXECUTIVE EXPERIENCE, surely she can look after herself in a debate? Perhaps this goes some way to proving that Palin's so-called exec experience is nothing but a load of bullshit. She's a dunce and an opportunist.
 
That's nothing. Michelle Obama can't even go on a fluff show like The View without imposing a list of things they're not allowed to talk about with her.

I can't believe that Palin was selected to be running mate to begin with. It's just a ploy to get Clinton supporters. She has no experience whatsoever to help run this country. Could you imagine in 2 years when McCain dies of old age and this dumb hag is running our country. We'll all be fucked.
 
it seems that the mccain campaigns want it both ways. you know, that she should be treated with respect as any other politician, but don't say certain things because it's offensive to women? double standards

Yeah she was a bad choice, but now McCain can't back out of it. They probably don't want her saying anything that wasn't already scripted by the campaign managers.
 
McCain wanted town hall meetings to sit together and sing cumbiya, not debate.

And if only Sen. Obama had attended then Republicans would not have had to go negative.

I heard this all from the man's own lips and nobody can say I didn't (except the cumbiya).
