The Abraham Lincoln Brigade was made up of volunteers from all walks of American life, and from all classes. Many of the people who volunteered for the Abraham Lincoln Brigade were official members of the Communist Party USA or affiliated with other socialist or anarchist
and are there other american sounding groups that have communist leanings.
who is Oliver Law?

the often use patriotic rhetoric to gain people's confidence.

any time you see the word 'progressive', you need to just insert the word communist.

i noted that progressive insurance has a lot of tv adds. guess who really owns this company....George Soros, so any time you buy from them, you are adding to George's fortune.

(CNSNews.com) - A conservative advocacy group is urging its supporters to cancel their policies with Progressive Insurance, after Peter Lewis, the company's chairman, reportedly gave $8.5 million to the American Civil Liberties Union. The multi-million dollar donation will help the ACLU advance its liberal agenda, including its "war on Christmas,"

It had to do with the idea that they were freeing people from right wing "oppression"... Franco was the right wing, and oddly, the ones they supported were the Spanish Republicans, but the name had nothing to do with today's Republican ideologies.

Oliver Law was an avowed communist, and the 1st black to command a US Military Unit... supposedly... After it was over, the members were viewed as supporters of the Soviets, and some were indicted for their actions.

Bottom line, many anti-American activities, and organizations, hide behind what are perceived to be Patriotic names, all while wishing for destruction of their own Country.

it is happening right now... and they elected him.

The name is only for public appeal. The department of war changed its name to the dept. of defense for P.R. purposes. Many of the laws passed today have very appealing names attached to them so as the Patriotic act or the Fairness doctrine etc.... Any how the Abraham Lincoln brigade opposed the Fascist Franco which I believe was a good cause. Just as there are good P.R. labels there are negative labels that are used to instill fear to the uninformed. Always be informed and becarefull what you wish for.

Perhaps it has to do with Lincoln's forcing people to live under a government they no longer wanted.

Research "People for the American Way" and the "American Civil Liberties Union".

The name Brigade is a misnomer. In the Spanish Civil War, a brigade consisted of four to six battalions.[1] American volunteers mostly joined the two battalions (the Lincoln Battalion and the Washington Battalion) within XV International Brigade. The XV International Brigade was made up of six battalions of volunteers from nations around the globe, topped up with Spanish conscripts.[2]

As time went on, the name Abraham Lincoln Brigade became used loosely, in the United States, as shorthand to describe any unit with an American component. Volunteers from the United States also served with the Canadian Mackenzie-Papineau Battalion, the Regiment de Tren (transport), and the John Brown Anti-Aircraft Battery. North Americans also ran a very well-organized and well-equipped field hospital (funded and staffed by the American Medical Bureau to Save Spanish Democracy).

The Abraham Lincoln Brigade was made up of volunteers from all walks of American life, and from all classes. Many of the people who volunteered for the Abraham Lincoln Brigade were official members of the Communist Party USA or affiliated with other socialist or anarchist organizations, such as the Uruguayan Hugo Fernández Artucio.[citation needed] Members of the Industrial Workers of the World ("Wobblies") were also represented. It is sometimes thought to be the first American military unit to be commanded by a black officer, Oliver Law.[3] Irish volunteers formed the Connolly Column of the battalion under the command of Frank Ryan. The column joined the American rather than the British battalion on nationalist grounds.
