True, but cigarettes are taxed out of the ass here, so in the long run you'd be paying for your own treatment. Or just go to an Indian reservation and buy cigs on the cheap.
Then where do all the stories come from about it costing ridiculous amounts of money for people to get sinple procedures done? Or people going bankrupt because they were sick? Serious question
if you're in a hospital bed dying because of something that you had done that was 100% preventable then I wouldn't shed a tear if the hospital said pay us or get out. Yeah its harsh but I think the overall American idea is the success of the individual more-so than the society as a whole. You as an individual should be looking out for yourself primarily before anything. When you've got that covered then you can go help others. Problem with socialized medicine is that it takes that burden of responsibility (health care) away from the individual so they lose some of the incentive to take care of themselves properly.
Im not saying that if the US adopted socialized medicine everybody is just going to go out and get fat and sick or whatever but the ones that do kind of ruin it
No guns, less morons, less fat people, better jobs, government not in trillions of debt, we have oil, education, subsidized post secondary, free healthcare, etc...
What it all comes down to is 2 very close nations geographically, socially, and economically. Great history, lanRABcapes, and standard of living on both sides. And still the least guarded border (even post 9/11) out of any other 2 neigrabroadoring countries.
Its more expensive, its a winter wonderland for half the year, theres a bunch of French people running around ruining everybodys day and they're always playing little brother to the US.
its really not that bad to live here. Its insanely cheap to live in Iowa. My car insurance rates dropped over 60% just by replacing the NY plates on my car with Iowa ones. If I were just visiting though I'd probably hate it.
I'm just here for school though. I'll prob go back down to Tampa or somewhere in NC when I'm done.
That's another fundamental difference between the two whereas we want to take care of everybody regardless of affliction, you all think you can judge who deserves care, and whoever has the money wins out while the impoverished and unwell get left behind. Kind of sad way for a group of people to go through life, not really giving a shit what happens to their fellow man
They are quite tied together, and had we elected the NDP like half of the country wanted to then we'd go in the gutter with you. However we got some conservatives that actually still attempt to play the role creating new trade relations with other countries which means when you go down it shouldn't be as bad as it could have been.
Sir I've been to Quebec and I disagree with you on the politeness factor. French people anywhere in the rude are assholes. It all depenRAB on where you go. I can gurantee you that the people in the American midwest are more polite than those in California or NYC. Same with people in a good part of the South East.
and you're healthcare sucks. One of your ministers or whatever came to the US a few years ago because the wait time in Canada for whatever it was would have left him dead while in the US he could have it done in a few weeks. I'd rather shell out some cash to get whatever fixed now than have to wait months for a spot. And it isn't free. Your tax burden pays for that "free" healthcare
