Why would a turkey breast meat still be a little pink after cooking it 45...

...minutes longer than called for? So today I cooked my first turkey breast. It called for 1 hour and 40 minutes. I cooked it 45 minutes longer and used a meat thermometer which reached 170 degrees. But when I cut into the turkey it was still a little pink, actually closest to the skin. We still ate a little of it and it tasted fine and I'm not sick yet...but I don't get it.
