why would a 2007 chevy Aveo check engine light be on?

it just randomly appeared one day and the car rumbles and shakes when i turn it on it takes almost 10 seconds after you turn it on to settle and not rumble so much and its like over the 1 on the tachometer. what would this be? i did get an oil change done from good year and they say my serpentine belt is cracked need a transmission flush and some fuel service. these wouldn't be why the check engine light is on now would it?
my cars miles so far is 36871 to answer one of the questions.
