why won't my yamaha 225dx start?

i picked up a 1984 yamaha 225dx. it will need some work but i wanna make sure the engine and drive train are good before i go to far. it has good spark and i put my carb from a ytm 200 on it but it wont start. the electric start works. the ignition is missing and i will get another if it runs. what wires do i have to jump together and what else should i look at to get it to start. i beleave it has good compression to
