Why won't my VCR record from my TV?

Have cable, have a sanyo tv, have a toshiba vcr. The VCR will play but it won't record. What do I need to do to correct this or how can it be fixed?
 
Make sure that your cable line is going to your VCR's line in or video in, etc.... It sounds like you already have your TV connected to your VCR. If you did that already, then make sure that your VCR's channel is set your desired station. Hope this helps!
